Insurance & Patient Responsibility

Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology of Rhode Island participates with most insurance plans. If you have questions about coverage, we recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm benefits before your appointment.

Patients are responsible for all required co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles at the time of service.

Understanding Your Insurance Costs

  • Co-Pay

A co-pay is a fixed payment due at the time of your appointment. The amount is typically listed on your insurance card and varies depending on your plan.

  • Co-Insurance

Co-insurance is the percentage of the approved medical cost that you are responsible for after insurance coverage is applied.

  • Deductible

A deductible is the amount you must pay out of pocket before your insurance begins covering services. Deductible amounts vary by plan.

Referrals

Some insurance plans require a referral from your Primary Care Physician before your visit. If your insurance requires a referral, please have your Primary Care Physician fax it to:
